In Game of Thrones lenkt der Spieler die Geschicke von Mors, einem eingeschworenen Bruder der Nachtwache, und Alester, einem roten Priester, der nach langer Verbannung in die sieben Königreiche zurückkehrt. Ähnlich der Romanvorlage setzt die Handlung kurze Zeit nach dem Ableben von Lord Arryn ein, der zuvor “Die Hand des Königs” war. In der ca. 30-stündigen Kampagne erkundet der Spieler viele aus dem Buch und der Fernsehserie bekannte Orte, darunter die Mauer und King’s Landing. Dabei werden ihm auch bekannte Figuren wie Cersei Lannister oder Lord Commander Jeor Mormont begegnen. Das auf den Namen ‘Active Slowdown Tactical Combat Engine’ getaufte Kampfsystem gibt dem Spieler in Gefechten die Möglichkeit, das Kampfgeschehen zu verlangsamen und so die nächsten Schritte in Ruhe vorzubereiten. Neben Kämpfen werden Sprachgeschick und Diplomatie einen hohen Stellenwert einnehmen.
